History

Civil Court, Dindori was established in 1964. When Civil Court was started, Shri Brijkishor Agrawal, Civil Judge Class II was the first magistrate to be appointed here. That time, District establishment of Civil Court Dindori was District Court Jabalpur. In 1970-71, District establishment was changed to District Court Seoni. In 1975, District establishment was finally changed to District Court Mandla. In 1989, Additional District and Sessions Court was inaugurated by Justice Hon’ble Shri V.C. Verma, High Court of M.P., Jabalpur. Shri H.L. Warde was the first Additional District and Sessions Judge of Civil Court, Dindori. In 2009, Civil Court Dindori was declared as District Court establishment. Shri S. D. Dubey was the first District and Sessions Judge of District Court establishment, Dindori.

ABOUT DISTRICT DINDORI

Dindori is a district of Madhya Pradesh state of central India. The town of Dindori is the district headquarters. It was created on 25th May, 1998 with total 927 villages. The district is a part of Jabalpur Division. The district covers an area of 7470 sq.km. and is located on the eastern part of Madhya Pradesh, bordering the state of Chhattisgarh. It is surrounded by Shahdol in the east, Mandla in the west, Umaria in the north, and Bilaspur district of the state of Chhattisgarh in the south. Mathematically, the district is situated between the latitudes 22.17N and 23.22N and longitudes 80.35E and 80.58E It is divided into seven blocks namely Dindori, Shahpura, Mehandwani, Amarpur, Bajag, Karanjiya and Samnapur. The Baiga tribe is a very pre-dominant tribe in this district. They are very vulnerable tribal groups which can only be found in the district. The Baigas are also known as the “National Human”. In Dindori district, The Ghughwa Fossil National Park of Madhya Pradesh is a unique destination in India, which has been blessed with a priceless treasure trove of plant fossils. Fossils belonging to 31 genera of 18 plant families have been identified. These fossils represent life as it occurred in this area some 66 million years ago. Well-preserved fossils of woody plants, climbers, leaves, flowers, fruits and seeds have been found here. Palm fossils are particularly numerous. 66 million old plant fossils are found in this district and attempts are made to protect the fossils at Ghughwa Fossil Park. Dindori has many historical as well as spiritual places. Some of the spiritual places are Laxman Madva, Kukarramath, Kalchuri Kali Mandir etc. The Kanha Tiger National Park is 180 km & Bandhavgarh National Park is 140 Km away from the district headquarter.
